Astrology and Grief

Astrology and Grief

Grieving is an intensely personal process and yet a shared universal experience.

To understand and process your own grief or try to be supportive of someone else who is grieving it may be helpful to understand how your astrology sign can impact how you handle or deal with grief.

I found the more I study astrology the more of my life experiences make sense, including how I grieve. Below are some general ways each astrology sign may grieve. Remember though, each person is an individual and somethings listed below may or may not resonate with everyone. Your entire birth chart influences your whole experience. This blog is small sliver of information to help you start looking at things with a different perspective.

Each astrology sign is in one of the four elements Air, Earth, Water, Fire.

Fire Signs ( Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fires signs in general don’t partially like to focus on their emotions. Out of all the Astrology signs those with Fires signs are the most likely to hide any emotions of grief. Which can be detrimental to themselves and others.

Aries

Aries wants to feel alive and vibrant on most days, especially so after a death. They might be more prone to do extreme activities. Think bungling jumping, skydiving, cliff jumping, car racing etc.

Ideas for Aries to cope with grief:

Do something physical, walk, exercise, go explore a nature area.

If you are inclined to do a more extreme activity, make sure you pause and do a bit of research on the activity first. Read the reviews of a place, find out what skills or gear you might have to acquire before literally going cliff jumping.

Leo

Leo’s are pretty good about pretending things didn’t happen and move on. Which means that they could show their grief as being indifferent. But that is far from true. They are incredibly loyal so a death could be a large unspoken wound for them.

Ideas for Leo to cope with grief:

Create a memorial, light a candle or honor the deceased with a favorite meal.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius might be tapped to give a eulogy seeing you know they will have lots of stories to share about their loved one and they might even sprinkle it with a dose of humor.

Ideas for Sagittarius to cope with grief:

If it’s safe to do so, have a bonfire in the deceased honor.

Explore how other cultures handle death, you might learn a practice or ritual that will resonate with you as well. Maybe even plan at some point to go on spiritual retreat, even if it’s its just for a afternoon in your own home.

Earth Signs ( Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth Signs are the most practical of the zodiac. They are going to be the ones to step up and get all the details straightened out for the funeral or celebration of life. And handle all the details afterwords too. Which sometimes can mean they hide their grief by being busy. It can take them a long time to grieve because of this.

Taurus

They are willing to plan the memorial, and it’s going to be beautiful. If they don’t plan it, they want their input known and probably won’t be shy about it either.

Ideas for Taurus to cope with grief:

Spend time in nature, go to formal gardens, or beautifully designed spots.

Virgo:

Need a list of who contact and what to have at the funeral, ask a Virgo. They will be right on top of creating a list of who needs to be notified your loved one died. Haven’t talked to Aunt Helen in 20 year, yep the Virgo added her to the contact list.

Ideas for Virgo to cope with grief:

Get outside, go for a walk, plan an area of your yard to serve as spot for reflection.

Capricorn

Capricorns might even volunteer to plan the memorial, but it might lack some of the beauty that other signs want. That said, every logistical detail will be throughly planned out, down to who is in the family car and the most direct route to the cemetery.

Ideas for Capricorn to cope with grief:

Garden, do yard work, fix the thing that has been bugging you for awhile. And while you are busy set the intention the work is helping you grieve in your own way.

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Air Signs in general like to talk things out. That can also be true as they process their grief.

Gemini

Want someone to chat up people at the celebration of life, ask a Gemini. They most often love talking to others and probably will get some amazing stories of your loved one that you might not have heard about.

Ideas for Gemini to cope with grief:

Write or play music.

Talk about your loved one, don’t be scared to share a deep story and then a humous story a few minutes later.

Libra

Libras are more inclined to want to talk about their loved one with a few close friends. Libra’s generally don’t want to upset others so they may tend to focus on good memories or funny stories.

Ideas for Libra to cope with grief:

Talk about your loved one to a close friend. Share a funny store about them on social media if you are so inclined.

Aquarius

They might be the ones willing to get up and give a eulogy, but be prepared to have it be in their own style on their terms. After the funeral or celebration of life, they might be inclined to do things that make them feel alive. It could be screaming on a thrill ride or going on a group adventure.

Ideas for Aquarius to cope with grief:

Create something unique for your loved one to honor them. Music, art, a small structure in the backyard are all great ideas or come up with your own.

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Water signs are known for being the most connected to their emotions. But because of that, they might try to lockdown their emotions and cry in private.

Cancer

Cancer people are incredible nurtures. Most likely they will be giving out hugs the day of the service, then when no one is around they will be break down.

Ideas for Cancer to cope with grief:

Take a shower or bath and cry.

Journal about your feelings.

Scorpio

Scorpios are great at investigating pretty much everything, so letting them do the research on the venue is a great idea.

Ideas for Scorpio to cope with grief:

Go and sit by moving water, streams or rivers are great.

Research how other cultures handle death, you might find something valuable in there for you.

Pisces

Pisces can be extremely empathic and easily overwhelmed by others emotions. Give them space on the day of funeral if they seem overwhelmed. Or better yet guide them to a quiet area where they can regroup a bit.

Ideas for Pisces to cope with grief:

Go and sit by large bodies of water. Lakes or oceans.

Journal about your feelings.

Be willing to feel your feelings.

The above are only a few suggestions to get you starting to think how your astrology might influence you on processing your grief. Maybe it just gave you a different perspective to consider.

No matter what, let your feelings, intuition and self-knowledge guide you through your grief.

And know that it is always okay to seek bereavement groups, counseling or therapy at anytime no matter your astrology sign.
