You might be thinking... "What does Tara know about retirement. She's not retired."

You might be thinking... "What does Tara know about retirement. She's not retired."

I’m no where near retirement.

But I’ve talked, listened and emotionally helped people with their retirements since I was in middle school.
In high school I wrote the cover article on a beloved staff member retiring. I asked to cover his retirement.
So yep, retiring has been one of my areas of expertise for over 30 years.

Retirement is a Rollercoaster of Emotions

You probably have been thinking and planning for retirement for years.
But now that it's getting closer your emotions are all over the place.

It's okay to feel excited.

It's okay to feel nervous.

It's okay to feel relief.

It's okay to feel your fears.

It's okay to feel sadness and happiness in the same day!

That's okay! (AND NORMAL!)

Retirement is a big life event, and planning how you want to spend your days and who you want to spend time with is worthwhile! And helps ease some fears that might be coming to the surface.

Especially after the initial "I'm not doing anything today" excitement wears off.
